^ That just doesnt make good business sense. BOM was another outlet Amazon could have used to promote it's site and imdb.

BOM will still be used quite a bit though I imagine since it does have a big following.

This is what I got from Sean:
I may out up some forums on Soundtrack.Net (which I bought a couple of weeks ago). I'll let you know.
I doubt Mojo is bring back their forums anytime soon. From what I can gleam from sitting on the outside, they finally got off their ass and decided to do something about all the security flaws people in the forums were complaining about. Now the site is back but with no user account functionality. Since the forums were running third party software (phpBB), and a pretty old version of it, in the interest of security they probably took it down. I highly doubt they are going to invest developer resource time into creating new forum software. So I suggest finding a permanent new home and spreading the word about it.
God luck.
Best,
Sean

^ That's a shame. Sean is probably right since he had firsthand knowledge about the flaws in security.
Also, has anyone even considered the quick success of this "back-up" forum also hurts chances of resurrecting BOM? Ray probably came here earlier to check things out and could have decided we were all in good hands with Shawn.

We seem to already have a thriving community again which is something we still wouldn't have if we kept waiting it out.

It really doesn't make much business sense for BOM to keep the forums.
They didn't provide any profit for the company, and it was pretty obvious they always took a more indifferent to the forums in the first place. This was bound to happen sooner or later, they were never going to upgrade......and with the crash last week, it just doesn't make more sense to invest more money into new forums.

Can't they just disable user functioning but keep the old forums, like they're frozen in time? Or at least provide a back up of some sort?

I don't know. (The site still rocks though, not as much anymore though. But at least we can now view so much for free)

They added a robot.txt so we can't even access them through Archive.org. Just another dick move

You can adjust any chart for inflation and they also have full Quarterly and Daily data, as well as screen and showing estimates
