Hopefully this won't be necessary, but what would you guys think about starting a BOM donation fund? Specifically, donations toward whatever it costs to upgrade the forums.

It could just as easily be a temporary fix while the solve the issues. I agree, we can't assume anything right now.

FWIW: If the forums end up gone- I've been through this sort of thing before (in 2006, we lost 5+ years of posts on an unrelated site), and a community can survive it. Yeah, it sucks, and all sorts of cool history gets lost, but ultimately the games, lists, and all that good stuff do get rebuilt. It might surprise you how quickly things return to "normal", whatever that is.  |

Even if we lose all of our posting history, if Mojo brings the forum back up (and especially if its upgraded), I won't hesitate to post there. I hate the fact that we've even *had* to create a backup site like this. |

Y'know, if BOM really aren't worried about the forum because it gets barely any notice, I think that may be because it hasn't been updated in 9 years. Just let us upload our own avatars and get a modern embedding system and I'll be all set. Oh, and one of those features that lets me ignore certain users would be nice. ;D

My main issue was the absence of notice before the forums/website went down. If it were to upgrade, they should've posted something about it. It sucks for people who host certain games to have all that data erased until further notice (or lack thereof). I'm happy to be here until this gets resolved!

I would be fine with IMDb if they had something in your settings that could make all threads "flat" all the time without having to click it every time.

I've seen a few give a similar opinion.
If they were planning to put the BOM forums up soon it seems weird to me that they'd add a BOD board on IMDB.
