I know it's largely useless but my renewal is due this month, and I was planning on paying BOM, but there's two reasons I'm not:
1) I can't sign in.
2) The forums seem to be gone, which honestly was a huge reason I paid the $90.
So I'm going to send this message to BOM/IMDB:
Dear Box Office Mojo and IMDB,
I've been a Premium Member for the last two (or three) years. I have dutifully paid the $90 and have been on the site almost daily. I am a long-term user of the site. While I plan to continue to visit the site on a regular basis, it won't be on such a basis that I could justify spending $90 on this site. I feel enough loyalty to this site to at least give it an explanation.
There's one primary reason. The Box Office Mojo community has always been a tightnit community that I always felt welcome in. It is, truly, one of the best communities the internet has had. While I know the forums was only a tiny part of the site, it was such an essential part of Box Office Mojo for me. While my interest in box office numbers have waned over the years, I kept coming back because I had an online family in the forums.
Now the forum page seems to redirect me to the IMDB forums. I don't like their forums. Not only do they use even worse software than Box Office Mojo's antiguated forum software, but it's a completely different community. It's large, the conversations are nowhere near the level of Box Office Mojo, and frankly it's not the same.
I know that IMDB is not willing to offer any resources to give Box Office Mojo new forums, even if the forum software could be acquired freely. I would gladly pitch in for new forum software. But I know that's severely unlikely. So as a consumer and as a customer of Box Office Mojo, I'm going to take my business elsewhere and I will not be renewing my $90. If the forum happens to be brought back, I will gladly come back as a paying customer.
Until then, I'll be using AdBlock to ensure that intrusive ads don't interrupt my experience (as that's a reason I paid $90, to provide you with revenue since I see no ads).
Sincerely,
XXX (My real name is going here)

I know I'm probably alone on this, but if any premium user wants to send the same message to Box Office Mojo and IMDB, it would be nice. The idea being that if enough money is threatened (along with the AdBlock threat, and frankly non-premium users can simply use this), then maybe they'll be threatened enough to maybe just bring back the forums. I doubt it, but I'm still doing this (and saving myself $90).
