Just the way Amazon/IMDB handled this makes me not want to frequent their sites anymore.

I feel like we were just in Pearl Harbor This is an opportunity to build on the community we formed and make it better. I see this as a positive, fuck being under control of a big corporation like Amazon/IMDB we can build our own place, new things and change are hard but I know there are enough dedicated users to make it work

I feel like we were just in Pearl Harbor Haha, hey now, all of us will be okay. It's just the internet. Hopefully no one will physically hurt themselves over what happened. I still considered myself a BOM regular, but I can't imagine how horrible I would have felt, say, two years ago, when the box office was really exciting and I was posting nonstop. But now I can just write this off as a really dick move and leave the matter alone. Still though, makes you wonder... One thing I just thought of: you know how especially next summer, the abbreviation TDKR for The Dark Knight Rises would have been all over the Mojo forums? Consider this site BOMR: Box Office Mojo Refugees.

Despicable.
IMDB, Amazon and the current BOM administration should be equally ashamed. If the latter didn't have any control of what the former two money-hungry corporations decided to do with the site, fine. But not telling the community (or moderators) at all makes them every bit as despicable. That word cannot be used enough times to describe this fiasco.
I honestly can't believe Subers has the gall to sign up here.

So my best weekend ever was the Dukes of Hazards OW % wise. Even if I was not even in the top 40. And I placed number 3 twice yet was never number one...

Agreed, if anything its good to have him here so maybe we can get at least some clarification on how this went down.

I don't know if this is a touchy subject, but did Brandon leave on his own accord. Or was it a case of "management was restructuring."?

Yea, definitely don't blame Ray. I think he might have gotten almost as screwed as the rest of us here. That's his job...if he was told not to say anything, can't blame him for doing so and keeping his livelihood.

Brandon obviously got his $$$ from them a while ago when the acquisition of BOM happened, only a matter of time before he left. I'm sure he's pretty well off though

Impact, you're an absolute machine. It's a lot easier to notice how rapidly your post count increases when we're starting from scratch as opposed to when you're in the 6 figures

I haven't tested these boards out at work. Hopefully I can do some posting while working. Yeah, I used to be afraid of getting in trouble for doing that when I first started, but it's been over a year and nobody has said anything. I don't think they are monitoring, or caring. I just hope this is a safe place and doesn't become a virus trap, because I can't risk that on the work computer. Though BOM wasn't exactly virus-free...

This completely blew me away. For 8 years the BOM Forums were a place of refuge for me. A place where I can share my love of movies with others like me. Even though I rarely posted, I was on the boards every single day.
I am glad that this site is here.

I am a little mad about the Derby gone but I am glad that I was able to finish in the top 100 on my last try. Also was my first time in the top 100.

Now that I've had time to little it simmer for a couple hours, I have to say I'm really fucking pissed. What a dick move on their part. For fuck's sake. There was hundreds of regular posters at the BOM forums! And even more regular participants in the Box Office Derby!!!! They just took us out like a torpedo, no warning, no explanation, just like that. What a sham. +1,000,000

wait, what does it mean that there will be no box office reports? Does that mean there will no longer be any weekend reports and around the world roundups?

So many memories lost forever...it feels like were the last of a long lost civilization The computer chip destroyed. The library gone
At least we remember... But still so many posts I will never get to read again...
At least BOM is still neat. (And I wont leave IMDB either, I just don't ever use the boards)
