Sorry, guys...last poll, I promise.
This is to get an idea of how you guys you would feel if I choose not to start a forum at BOT, but also choose to keep this one open (which will happen no matter what) but as the "permanent" home of Mojo's community.

Sorry, meant to delete the third option so if its confusing...that's why. But it might apply to someone, so... *shrug*

I'm 50/50 about integrating it anywhere before letting it mature. So as you please Shawn..

I feel like if it was a part of BOT it gives us a home and name. More community spirit.

Since this will be more community run than by a company, this will be a better place.

I'm basically just wondering if it being on ProBoards would be a deterrent to some folks, specifically those that don't want to go to another preexisting site. This is a free board with lots of limitations, after all, though it is probably still a long shot better than Mojo's former innards...

What kind of limitations?

My only worry is that if proboards decides to close up shop like BOM...

What kind of limitations? Nothing too major, but its a free board. Bandwidth could potentially be an issue in the future, there's no ownership of data, customization and appearance is very limited as far as how it can be designed...things like that. But at the end of the day, it does have advantages over BOM. Just not nearly as many as another forum board would.

dude I just think you should seriously consider starting your own thing
BOM was just numbers and a LITTLE analysis and a lot of activity from users
your site could be more analysis and we still have BOM for numbers and with a forum attached
I honestly think you will understand why this is the right time to start your own baby
this site got almost 300 loyal members in 2 days

You make excellent points, calbears...don't worry, I'm not overlooking them. I just want to be thorough in understanding what the community as a whole wants. That's the dark side of being too analytical sometimes, I guess.

I agree with giantcalbears. Turn Box Office Theory into your own big website with more charts and news stories that you could assign members to write.
Can you smell the money to be made?

Hi Shawn, Cant you move to PHPBB3. Proboards is not in the same ballpark as PHPBB3.

Options 1 and 3 seem similar, so I voted for option 1.

Shawn, create your own forums so you keep the traffic. That is better for you in the long run. You will make some money from ads, you can even start posting BO numbers on BOT, and in the long run none of this will matter. Also, it will be easier for people to find these boards and people will probably take them a little more serious if they see the boards as part of a site.
Also, now is the perfect time to redo the forums. Yah, this board is starting to build-up, but it is still early enough that you can start a new forum, and I say go for it. Really, in the long run, you will be more grateful. Starting from scratch is the best.
Trust me.

I think we need to encourage more people to participate in the polls! There's nearly 300 users, and only 45 people have placed a vote. The more people vote, the better idea Shawn has of what the community wants!

Shawn, I really like the idea of adding forums to BOT. I would be completely on board for donations to make that possible. But, I am also not opposed to keeping it here, just as long as the community is happy and satisfied. Although, I am not in favor of joining another forum.

The more I think about it, I think it would be best to have a forum on BOT. If you do decide to keep a Mojo Refugees forum it would be great if it could be moved to phpbb3 - I frequent other sites with that platform and I prefer it. Aren't there free ones you can get if there are ads? I don't mind ads.

I'm confused. I thought you were just going to link this to BOT as the "official" BOT forum?

I vote moving to phpbb3. How much will it cost? why not use a free PHPBB3 forum site www.messageforums.net/for example - is a completely forums site and it uses PHPBB3 or 2 (if you desire the earlier version) . Appears very customizable. would be willing to help a bit shaun.... I might even create a site to take a look. might be simplier and cheaper to do it like that. appears you can even have front page on the forum where you can make announcements etc. not sure on the tie back to BOT as yet, but i might soon create a forum as a test......
