I just realised we freaking lost GTM/SR forum! So much went into that. Imagine starting all that again.

I think for the new forum we should just have one "Rate the Last Movie You Saw" thread. We don't need to create review threads for every single film.
Though maybe there should be some designated Post-viewing discussion threads for immediately after release, but we don't need to create an archive of them.

I feel for you Impact. You created almost all the movie grade threads on BOM.
The lost of those forums is sadness to the max.

If I wanted to know what the general consensus was on BOM for a certain film i wouldn't want to go looking for it all over that thread. I'd much prefer it if every film had it's own thread and it was archived. That one thread would become too cluttered with discussion about all the different films.

One step at a time. It will get rebuilt, one movie at a time and this go around, it will be in the hands of somebody that won't carelessly delete it. Speaking of which, to ShawnMR: backup, backup, backup. I once had a problem with a forum and didn't back it up and started over.

ShawnMr could have a couple of GTM thread open for anyone to make a thread in. They could archive the link. If there any doubles just lock or delete it. Do this for a month or two, so the mods do not have to make every thread.

Well its like back in College I lost my data stick for a class. So I had to drop it since I didn't have a back up.

I'd much prefer it if every film had it's own thread and it was archived. That one thread would become too cluttered with discussion about all the different films. We'd still have to make decisions on what films get threads as we can't give one to every movie in existence. I was the only person who reviewed Dolphin Tale and I hated it, so I'm not sure if I equal a consensus. Maybe the decision could be based on poll results on whether people will see the movie or something. There were just so many empty threads I remember seeing that I think some further discretion needs to be used.

There were just so many empty threads I remember seeing that I think some further discretion needs to be used. I think someone should start a thread for a film they want to review. Then there's at least one review. Dolphin Tale is just one example. Most films get more reviews than that. And even if I wanted to read the single Dolphin Tale review that was out there it could take me ages to search through the thread for it.

Yeah, perhaps that's a better way to do it. Have the users start the threads.

Yeah this is one of the most tragic losses. I wrote so many reviews. The best part was when an old movie would get bumped and you could see what you thought of it 2, 3 years ago.. blah.

And I think we most certainly need a thread for every film that people want to see/review.. including all new releases. Let's just make it the same as the old GTM site- mods approve/create the threads- and include a poll for grading and archive post. Please. We don't have to go back for every film but start with all the new/recent releases and also have a request post if people want to post a review for an old film.

What's wrong with the users starting the thread once they've seen the movie and then posting it in the archive? You know, similar to how we do the Derby forum. That way you ensure that there are people who've seen it that are willing to discuss it.

I think the problem with users creating a thread is one user creates a movie thread. A couple months later another user creators a thread for the same movie. It's the idea that you can find all the reviews for one movie in one place, not scattered around.

That's what an archive is for. It could be done the same way the Derby's archive is done.
I think for both archives though we should have a stickied thread that only contains recent/upcoming films and a link in that thread could go to the unstickied "Master" archive that contains everything.

Well I don't really care who creates it. As long as it's similar to GTM forum. We really should keep the grading polls too.

I hope users are allowed to create threads. I waited about a month for a thread for The Haunting that never came.
