Fade out: A VERY HAROLD & KUMAR 3D XMAS finished #3 with $13 mil. Boasting a lead on Friday, TOWER HEIST tumbled into 2nd place for the weekend, topping out at just $25 mil. Raise a glass of leche...PUSS IN BOOTS is numero uno once again with an estimated $32 mil. Ah, muy bien! www.facebook.com/ercboxoffice

Great hold for Puss, 150m with a healthy OS total, probably something ridiculously good like 500m and it will be getting a sequel IMO.
Not terrible for Tower Heist.

Puss in Boots seems a little less remarkable once you consider that people were actually able to get out of their house and see it this weekend. Last weekend the Tri-State area in the Northeast was hit with a massive snowstorm that closed a lot of theaters for most of the weekend, which no doubt had at least a small impact on it's nubmers.
Glad to see Harold and Kumar bomb. Hopefully this will show the movie studios that people don't want to see unnecessary third sequels to movies that didn't even need a first sequel to begin with. I also take joy anytime the 3-D films are a bomb, I really wish they would just go away. Here's hoping the third H&K movie bombing will lead to next years American Pie movie doing the same thing. Get a clue studios, no one wants to see this retread garbage.

$7.7M for In Time - which was much better than I thought it would do this frame.

According to boxoffice.com, PIB drop is 'the best non-holiday hold since Twister fell 10% during its sophomore frame in 1996'. That's amazing!!!
I just wonder if BV will follow this one-week early launch for their Wreck-Up Ralph. It might not work the same way as many might have not been informed that Paramount move PiB up a week, but it might juice up October's BO a bit.

Wow. Puss in Boots' hold is amazing. It should hold well next week also, probably with a bigger drop than 3% though.

''The good news--95 percent of the revenues for Harold & Kumar came from 3D screens, bucking the recent downturn in 3D attendance.''

PIB reminds me of Bolt. Granted, Bolt had a holiday weekend its second weekend (if I recall correctly)--but a very good family animated movie with an overly depressed opening weekend allows for a monster 2nd weekend. Am I wrong in thinking this is the largest 2nd weekend gross for an animated film this year?

Give them a break. They've just recovered from having the flu. But they are lying about it and showing zero loyalty to those that helped make the site as popular as it is so they will get no breaks from me.

Very nice for Puss. Tower Heist on the other hand... What happened? I thought this would make 35M OW easily. Was it that terrible?

Very nice for Puss. Tower Heist on the other hand... What happened? I thought this would make 35M OW easily. Was it that terrible? It just didn't have that "it" moment that any comedy needs to open big. You know, that one joke they can play over and over again to hype up the movie. It just didn't have that. It had Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy's name but Murphy's name is so diminished I wouldn't be surprised if people were hesitant because of him being in it.

Yay!! I found the new forums.
Nice drop for Puss. Only a 3% is pretty amazing regardless of what happened last week in the Northeast. I thought Harold and Kumar would do a little better though.

''The good news--95 percent of the revenues for Harold & Kumar came from 3D screens, bucking the recent downturn in 3D attendance.'' That means nothing since 95% of the screens that ran Harold and Kumar ran it in 3-D, so no duh it did a cast majority of it's business in 3D, most people didn't have a choice!
