I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what has happened to BOM? I tried looking at some of the threads and the one that was closed after 1 post but I still can't find any substantial information on what happened, why, etc.? And why hasn't Brandon Gray spoken up about anything? Just would like some explanation or pointed towards a post/thread where I can get this information b/c I just don't get it. BOM is an amazing site, with so much info, don't get why it's a mess right now.

It's the million dollar question. BOM hasn't communicated anything to us.

It's not just the forums either. The site is apparently being run by 1 guy now? The box office info is taking a lot longer then usual. Amazon really must not care about this site which is weird since I thought it was a real money maker.

I wonder how accurate this website's calculations are. www.worthofweb.com/website-value/boxofficemojo.comIf BOM did make over a mil a year in revenue, I don't see why Amazon didn't put more effort into the site. A 2 or 3 man team could have handled everything fulltime and still turned in a nice profit every year.

What I want to know is how they expect one person to update all box office numbers, write all the articles, and keep up to date with movie news which can include anything from date changes to title changes to ratings to theater counts etc etc etc. For a site worth over 10.4M dollars according to that site, they don't seem to really care about it.

Gray got his money, probably a few million.
There used to be 3 people on that site, it isn't a one man job, it is sad that a big company has managed to swallow the little guy.

BOM makes over a mill a year and you're confused as to why Amazon didn't put much effort into it?
lol
In 2010, Amazon had income of $34 billion. Why would it care about BOM making $1M?
---
And as a seperate question, why did Brandon Gray leave? and do you ACTUALLY know this to be true? Is it just Ray Subers on his lonesome now?

I think we can trust that Brandon Gray has indeed left. We don't know why he's left since he seems to have completely disappeared. As far as we know, Ray is on his own. And yes Amazon may have had a $34 billion budget. You also forget that it's a greedy ass company, which means $1 million may not be much, but their going to want that $1 million regardless.

How much money did they make on the forums and how did cost to keep them up. If the forums kept getting attacked and if they had to start all over again. then I am guessing they decide it was not worth it.

Actually, according to that website, they were making an estimated $10M a year from BOM. Even though Amazon is a multi-billion dollar company, $10M a year isn't something to sneeze at. This probably sounds bad, but I also put BOT into that calculator. It's current value is $443/yr assuming there were ads on it. Sorry, I couldn't help but do it. That calculator is pretty neat.

Yeah, to you, but not to Amazon. It had a few guys doing stuff for BOM, and that was it. When one decides to leave, it's no big deal, so they don't really care. It's $10M.
