We'll see. I'm halfway joking, but its a great opening this far outside the holiday season and with minimal marketing.

I think 1B will be VERY HARD to achieve. But a sequel (which I really want, since I loved the movie) it pretty much locked

Steven Spielberg's Tintin got off to a strong start in 19 foreign markets where it collected an estimated $55.8 million. In 17 of those markets, it opened at number one, including the United Kingdom, where it took in $10.7 million and France, where it amassed $21.5 million. While Paramount handled the film in the U.K., Sony rolled it out in the other territories. The movie opens stateside via Paramount on Dec. 21. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-report-puss-boots-255078

Oh yea! We can swear here. ;D Fuckin A!! fuckity fuck fuck fuck! That is an incredible start though. I'm @ the France number. With that OW it will probably gross $60-70m in France alone. The OW beats all of the Harry Potter OWs in France, except DH2, for example.

This was a holiday weekend in France. Next weekend Tintin will likely drop around 55%.

Even 400m is locked. It should at least do business on the level of Smurfs in all markets. Markets like France and Japan should give it advantage. So 420m, that the Smurfs will finish with, is minimum for me.
Most likely range IMO is 500-550m.

And this will give more money to make sequels if this does over 100m in the NA.

Any chance this has a smaller opening weekend in the US than in France?
