I saw it last friday. It was a thrilling and funny adventure! Everyone I know who has seen it says t was an amazing experience and wwill spread excellent WOM. Legs will be great and will allow to build expectations in the US. For BO tracking, this is the most interesting film to follow.

Saw it yesterday and is was fantastic. Visually stunning and, more importantly, lots of fun. I grew up with the tintin books, so I may be biased.
I read that it made $56M last week, which does not seem like a lot though. I know it opened in only 19 countries, but I wonder how this will reach $400M or $500M or whatever is needed to make this a financial success. It will need some serious legs.
I hoped that we could track this on a daily basis on the UIP web site, but apparently it distributed by other companies as well since it is currently listed there as $11.4M.

I asked this in the OS thread, and I'll ask it here:
Is there any chance France's OW will be bigger than the US OW?
This has Polar Express written all over it, and that opened to 24M.
Yes, that was 2004, but we've seen some busts this year. I'm just putting it out there.

No. Not really. I see this opening with 25-26M.

The OW won't be amazing due to Christmas eve but the WOM will be already there because of the Wednesday opening. Around 30m on OW seems like a sure bet IMHO

I'll be pretty dissapointed in a total less than Tron.
That 275m budget can't be true?

I still don't see the hype for this film yet. Looks like people are enjoying it, so maybe I'll have to check it out.

Yeah, not quite understanding the hype either. But it's not my type of movie either.

I don't understand the overwhelmingly positive response for Tintin...I saw it. It was fun, but I would definitely not rave about it...could have been much better.
I'd like to see a sequel though.

It is very difficult to get an adventure flick exactly right. That said... it would be interesting to see how PJ handles it.

The release dates link on the official site redirects here, www.sonypictures.com/movies/tintinsecretoftheunicorn/releasedates/It used to go to a page on the site itself with release dates for all markets, but not anymore.
