Apparently, movie fanatics are some of the most sensitive people on the internet, and BOM has had it’s share of drama queens over the years. I’m guessing the person that wrote that had a previous run in with Shawn or the moderating team and is the forum’s recent downfall. |

I think many "film" fans probably view Box Office followers as a "second tier" of movie fans, who care more about $$$ than quality. I'm interested in both.

Probably. If they had a run in with me, they could have at least used a story that had SOME basis in truth, haha.
But really, who cares? IMDb is no different than any other poorly managed forum where web cretins hide and spread toxic comments about people. Just have to take the bad with the good, sometimes.

How the hell can anyone stand to post at IMDB? The 'click to see every single post' feature is a MAJOR mission! I agree. Very annoying of IMDB. |

To be fair, IMDB Box Office forums aren't really trolled. I used to post and read the posts there. I do post on the message boards but it just depends on the film and the actors. Some of the films I follow never get trolls on the message boards. If they do, they are somewhat easy to ignore.
The Box Office forums on IMDB really didn't have much going at all. There was one guy who disparaged BOM in every post for the most part. The others were reacting to a troll post from (I'm assuming ) a member here who said that 90% of the posters there were trolls. Such an inflammatory post would cause people to react.
There is nothing wrong with using IMDB boards if you want to talk about movies.

I felt like knew some of members at BOM pretty well. Better then most websites. IMDB is just too big and has a horrible layout for its forums and is that great overall. |
