Wow. This is my first post on a box office website since mid-September, I think. I found BOM in winter of 2005 and have been either posting or lurking for the entirety of that time. Despite my interest in numbers, movies and whatnot, it actually sucked a lot of my life I feel, hence the break I took. Checked in time to time of course to see what was doing well and if anything were being discussed that piqued my interest. I have to say it really is a dick move by the new owners because the games and forums is what made BOM standout from any other movie site. There was a community that evolved over the years and that's not something that can be said for many other websites and forums. I'm still amazed at how membership changed each year and how despite every exodus the community would reform. Unfortunately, I don't plan on being a regular like I sort of was throughout my time at BOM, but it's really nice to see that many of the old regulars have found this site and will rebuild. It's going to take a lot of work and time given that there were so many great lists and games going on for years that have been wiped out but hopefully this place will persevere. Not that I particularly recall any of my own lists but shoutouts to Inny Binny, kayumanggi, Neo, Rudolf, pinocchio and Smallville for keeping us all updated and intrigued, to baumer for the awesome summer game, to 33Legend & Impact for that thread in the Speakeasy, to posters who posted in the My Favourite forum for updating the lists as it was always nice to see what people thought, and to some of the posters I liked or communicated with ShawnMR, Totem, Gopher, Spaghetti, tribefan, Whoot, lab276, D-loonie, Algren, Noctis, Heretic, aDIM, AA, tawasal, CJohn etc. I know there are a lot more but my mind can't seem to process any at the moment so to all and any who remembered discussing and arguing with me, I hope you all find a good place here and despite the lost efforts, come back stronger than ever online but also in your own personal real world lives, (I'm going to be a little melodramatic here!) after all, the closest analogy I can think of is losing someone dear. You discuss, agree, argue, flirt, socialize, joke on a constant daily basis. You put in effort to maintain the relationship(s) created, each day adding to the memory bank of past experiences shared and strengthened. You share personal opinions about anything under the sun and invest so much time into being informed of their life. You create, brainstorm and mold a connection that you're proud to have and in an instant, without warning or care, all of it is taken away. So, here we are now, and though the substance and work have been lost, at least the memories and the relationships remain. Don't waste a second, mates. Yeah I think I went overboard. Oh well, sort of my final post or rather a post where people might still remember me and care! Been nice knowing you all and see you around! -formerly shootstars17 on BOM. edit: Not sure if there's anything to work with but is Cache any good to find forum posts? Or there was a site baumer found that had statistics of forums around the web, something like post counts and stuff, maybe they'd have a backup? Just trying to help! |

Yep it sucks to know that all the work people put into each threads are gone. The Archives alone took days of my time and I am kinda pissed a little lol. I was actually about to update it this last weekend very glad I did not. Just feels like a lot of my time wasted. I felt and I think I can speak for Impact and Shawn as well that the fourms were headed in the right direction being orginaized and such. They were the cleanest that I have ever seen them as well. Everything was looking really good from a normal view of the fourms.
Hopefully we can keep up our energy here as well.

Glad I found this site. I was wondering what the hell was going on with BOM the last week or so. I've been a member since 2006 but lurked way back to almost 2003. I cannot believe what happened with the forums. Almost 10 years of history there. It's incredible they can just delete the whole database and not say a word about it.
I'm glad alot of BOM'ers found this place. Seems like a stable forum (gifs, youtube embeds, etc). Thanks Shawn!

I can't believe tomorrow is Thursday and I won't be doing my Derby, this is so sad. What makes me angry is that they didn't told us in advance, we could be here now with all the archives, but this came from nowhere, nobody was expecting this.
