I'm not sure what your point is. Tintin is certainly able to be nominated for BP.
Serkis should be a hall-of-famer, but there are hardly enough notable mocap performances within a year to warrant its own category. If anything I'd like a "voice acting" category as well as other technical ones specific to animation.

If anything I'd like a "voice acting" category as well as other technical ones specific to animation. What I want to say is, animated films have a category of their own and then can still be nominated for best picture unlike TINTIN which doesn't enjoy the same privilege. It can be nominated for BP of course but that's a tough category, that's why being also nominated or win in a category like "best animated feature" film is a good thing. I agree with your second point. I think there must be a category for best voice acting. I also think mo-cap performances will be more common in the coming years.

Oh sorry, I just Read the Academy are doing it differently this year. All the films listed have qualified as animation. There will be 5 nominees.

I... don't know. Weren't the last two Chipmunks films eligible as well? I think they were.
Anyway, I'm trying to throw down a prediction but I'm not sure. I think two of the foreign language ones could get nominated.

Arthur Christmas is the big question mark. Early reviews are good, but how good remains uncertain.

Competition's stronger this year, and it looks about as bland as a kids movie can be.

And I don't know why Disney didn't bother submitting Arrietty. This would be the last year it's eligible and it could've challenged for winning the category. Was it so impossible to get the El Capitan reserved for a week?

100%/7.6 on RT. And it's already been released in Britain.

...was Hop even submitted though?
One of the foreign ones really interests me, A Cat In Paris sounds really cool, I can only find a couple of reviews on it, though all are quite positive. Also heard really good things about Chico And Rita. Paramount had an exceptional year with their animated titles, all are pretty good, though I think voters may be weary of giving them too many nominations, so I think only Tintin and Rango will happen. I also can't count out Winne The Pooh.

Hmm. Interesting. Disney should submit it then.

Too bad for Dreamworks. Their biggest opportunity to take the category and they release two films that are just "pretty good".

Since Alvin always ends up being eligible, it makes me think if movies like Transformers or Apes would've been eligible this year.

Not sure about Apes. It seems the mocap rule was intended to keep films like Avatar out.
Transformers might've been if Bay were actually willing to give the bots the camera's full attention.

If the early word of Brave not being great turns out to be true they could have a shot next year. What do they have next year? Actually, I hope that goes to Frankenweenie (though I'm thinking way too far ahead)

WRECK-IT RALPH of Disney might surprise. ParaNorman also looks interesting. Lorax looks like fun and Pirates! looks hilarious. I think in terms of animated films it could be a bit better than this year.

There's a lot of films with potential next year, and I'm still not writing Brave off. There was a whole section of WALL-E that was redone six months before it came out, so they may still have time to make the necessary changes.

I don't want to trust a report from AICN. The report sounded legit. He provided enough detail which shows that he definitely saw the movie and I`m not surrpised that the movie is full of cliches cause, unless archer chick is Katniss Everdeen, she`s going to be a big cliche. And he loved triplet baby brothers so if that`s the best part of the movie than Houston`s got trouble. Anyway, I hope War Horse does not win BP. It looks like a typical Oscar wankjob and early reactions pretty much say that`s what it is.
