I hope he is wrong.

Whether he's "wrong" or not, he didn't see the final cut. Pixar's made last-minute changes before.

Well, what he cited as the problem sounds like something that needs a character re-write rather than just small tweaking. He says main character is blah and considering that they based the hype on "Pixar`s first heroine" that does seem to pose a problem. I mean, her triplet baby bros are better for crying out loud!

Harry Potter will win something this year. At the very least Art Direction. The only one I care about is Snape getting a supporting actor nom. OMG I would be so happy.

No other reports? Only his?

There were a few Twitter reactions, but none were nearly as detailed as the AICN response. And I think he may have broken an embargo anyway which is probably why the review was removed.

No other reports? Only his? Only his. Which, of course, is just his opinion. But he does say that the main chick does nothing heroic. So maybe they pulled a twist in which Emma Thompson is the titular Brave cause her character is heroic.

Pixar loves to surprise. I'll judge the film myself.

Anyone have a copy of that review of Brave? It looked good from the preview, kinda shocked they are saying its bad already.

I can't help but think that element is residual from Brenda Chapman's original story. She wrote it for her daughter, so I could see a situation where she elevates her surrogate character too much to the point where the protagonist suffers.

I think that Pixar may have made a mistake by pushing Merida as the protagonist in previews whereas her mom is actually the heroine of the story. You know, easier sell gets to grace the poster. Bait and switch. Also, the review doesn`t say the movie is bad just that it isn`t great. Big difference.

I don't think it's a mistake. It's just Pixar's culture. They like twists like that.

After reading the reaction, I'm positive this will do well.

Doesn't sound like that bad of a movie tbh. Everything he mentioned sounds easily fixable between now and summer release.

It definitely doesn't sound as bad as Cars 2. If that were the movie that ended up getting released I'd see a Tomatometer in the 70s.

I have a question, how do they showcase the films they want to nominate for Cinematography? Do the studios show fifteen minutes of the film to the members?

God, your posts have been incredibly grating as of late. Oh, and to answer your question. No, they don't. That's stupid. Equally as stupid as the visual effects thing, but at least cinematography is constant throughout the film so they act as if they have an excuse.
