Haha... Weird.
I do like the fact that it's November and I have no clue who's gonna win in the major categories.

Just found out that the deadline for submitting animated films is today. I hope enough make it in for five nominees.

It is weird/exciting that it's November and all we can do is truly speculate still. I'm kind of bummed at the lack of "Oscar" films out in theaters, but the end of this month should change that. I just think we were blessed last year with such a long season of Oscar bait being released pretty much October through February.

Young Adult is getting really positive write-ups. Maybe nominations for Theron, Oswalt and Cody.

DH2 is starting to get a really big Oscar push. WB's mini book they're sending to Oscar voters to encourage them to vote for DH Part 2, it's beautiful. That consider spot...*cry*

Do you guys think Leo DiCaprio will get his long overdue Oscar for his work in J.Edgar? I know the film is not out yet, but i expect an exceptional performance out of him. Well deserved in my opinion. I hope he eventually gets a best actor win, rather than years down the road getting a lifetime achievement award.

Ugh, That campaign is such a waste of money. Why are you such a condescending bitch? This series is long overdue and has been shamefully snubbed. They have consistently given out quality films and they put SO much care and love into them. It's only the Oscars that hasn't recognized the series. PoA losing for Best Original Score? HBP losing for Best Cinematography? DH1 snubbed of a Cinematography nod? And it had BETTER win the award for Art Direction. DH2 is locked in that category and will signify the fourth nomination for the series (although I think it was a crime PoA/HBP were not nominated). It should definitely be awarded something. The series has been a potent franchise, and rare in the sense that the later films in general were better than the earlier ones. Best Picture will not happen, but undeserved? It completely deserves it. DH2 was one of the films I appreciated more during my repeat viewings. The Forest Again scene is the best scene this year in any film.

I'm allowed to be. It's obvious they won't get any of the major noms they're gunning for, it probably won't win anything either. No matter how much money they throw at a campaign it's not going to happen for the film. Waste of money.

And undeserved? When the hell did I say that? The campaign is pointless because it's obvious they're doing it to try and get the bigger awards. Not happening.

Art Direction, I swear if it doesn't win that....I will be fucking PISSED. Ive been closely following the race to Oscas for more than a decade and I'm pretty confident HP8 will be pretty much ignored on Oscars noms. In fact, the best case scenario I can see is five noms in technical categories: art direction / visual effects / sound editing / cinematography / score. The last two are improbable though. And for the Oscars night, the Artist is the frontrunner in Cinematography / Art direction. If not, Cinematography is War Horse's Oscar most probable. Also in Best Art Direction the Oscar might go to Hugo. Dante Ferreti is like a legend in this category and the film looks so fresh. Noctis you need to keep in mind that one thing is what you want (hey, its a matter of taste) and other thing is what Oscars go for. Sorry for you but Harry Potter will have zero impact on Oscars night. You're set for a major dissappointment.

What the fuck? I never said it was going to win any categories besides Art Direction, which it has the best chance in.
Seriously, what's up with you two harping on me?

Well, maybe not a Best Picture contender cos now more proper reviews are being published and apparently film has major problems. Leo could get in. Maybe Armie for supporing as well.

Leo is a shoe in for J Edgar. I think techinically "on paper" he may be, but you never know. While "J. Edgar" fits all the qualities of Oscar bait, (Eastwood, bio pic, etc.), it seems to be flying under the radar (even early reviews are mixed) That could hurt Leo's oscars chances (Something like critic circle noms or golden globe seem possible), but I wouldn't be suprised if he missed out an oscar nom.

So TINTIN is an animation. Just because it's submitted doesn't mean it will be eligible for sure. Yogi Bear was submitted last year but got kicked out. So mo-cap could be ineligible, that could be two out, also The Smirfs or Alvin could have problems getting in so that could be another two out. There's only 14, and there's only 4 nominees.

It's a movie, so it's eligible for every category except Documentary, Foreign, and Short film. Probably doesn't have an original song, though.

I mean it's not live-action. Whereas "animated" ones can be nominated in their own category and get a best picture nod too. Also, don't you think it's time for a best mo-cap performance category? Serkis should be a hall-of-famer now.
