Paypal is screwing me over with this verification issue. Soon if I don't see my money on the account I AM gonna be making some calls. It does take a few days. I will send you other money tomorow and try to revive my early money from paypal somehow.

I agree it's sad to loose such a home we have created a lot of memorable moments and by the same time happy to be part of the building team on this new home.

I still can't make any international transfers from my Paypal account. Let me try some alternate option.

How much are we talkin here? I just moved so funds are at an extreme minimum, but I'd love to contribute. Literally anything, buddy. Like I told the rest of the guys (and gals), $5 is just as significant a contribution as $20 or $30. I wouldn't ask anyone to even consider giving more than whatever they can spare. And honestly, we're at the point where larger donations aren't needed anymore. (Though, for the future, a donation option on the site may be open...but that's down the road and won't be nearly as time-sensitive.)

Hey fellow mojo posters...just signed up and have to get my account set and whatnot but just wanted to make a post and express my shock and disappointment with what amazon and imdb decided to do with the mojo forums. I honestly don't know the full story and am playing catch-up with the whole debacle, but regardless, I look forward to whatever this, or the permanent site, become and plan on continuing to discuss movies and box office with those I've come to know and post with over the last 4+ years.

Not sure if anyone else tried this, but just out of curiosity I tried the "wayback machine" at Archive.org to see if I could bring up a past snapshot of the forums. I got this error message: Page cannot be crawled or displayed due to robots.txt.
See boxofficemojo.com robots.txt page. Learn more about robots.txt.
So I clicked on it and got this: # robots.txt for www.boxofficemojo.com
User-agent: * Disallow: /movies/default.movies.htm Disallow: /showtimes/buy.php Disallow: /forums/ Disallow: /derbygame/ Disallow: /grades/ Disallow: /moviehangman/ Disallow: /users/"Disallow"? Does that mean the data could still be there? I'm not very good at reading script and all that. Can anyone a bit more knowledgeable translate for me?

Nearly a decade too. I'm pretty disappointed.
What's shocking was the lack of warning.

Nearly a decade too. I'm pretty disappointed. What's shocking was the lack of warning. As I wrote before I'm sure the site was hacked and the forums destroyed. It doesn't make sense for ANY website to just give up a good forum. BOM will suffer that's for sure.

Don't know. BOM has been attacked many times. Some attacks US members even didn't realize because they happened when they there sleeping and so on.

How upsetting. I was finally planning on returning after a 3 month leave, and this happens. Oh well. Mostly just pissed that my CAYOM films got deleted, cause I don't have them saved anywhere else. *Sigh*

Hi guys.. I finally found out that we'd all moved over here.
I'm so devastated that BOM Forums are history.
We should email a complaint to IMDB.

Oh yeah, and I'm psychic. A couple weeks ago, I thought about BOM, and I was thinking, "Hmm, I haven't ventured there in a while. Watch the forums shut down." And I jokingly thought to myself that they would shut down in November. Seriously. How ironic.
I don't even mind that they're gone, just that all the posts are gone. There are some things I would like to retrieve from the databases if possible, but I imagine every shred of it has been deleted.

I really am starting to wonder whether this move by IMDB is a step towards merging to 2 sites to 1 site for good. slowly direct traffic to IMDB until BOM dies alltogether. That is what I am afraid of, as there is a lot of very good data on BOM still which could potentially be lost if that happened.
especially if god forbid, Ray quite BOM.

Unfortunate too bad they won't get the forums back, this is really upsetting, and just when I thought i could get up to 1000 posts now I have to start over all again.

I love both sites, but no they shouldn't merge... I actually almost did get an admin job on BOM...but then IMDB took over...
