You can blame them for covering it up. I'd rather think the forums being killed without warning was due to actions beyond their control instead of just a "bump" in a transition phase.

nice anology ShawnMR  I still cant believe that they shut down the forum without any kind of warning...  BOM had lots of problems with hackers and spamming in the past. The idea BOM wanted to kill those forums is silly. Somebody attacked again and won this time. So you can't blaim BOM or IMDB IMHO. I thought this was the case. I know people are pissed but I think there was no way to recover from the last attack. They can't bring the forums back because there is no way they can get it back to where it was. Losing the info couldn't be helped if they got wiped out by hackers. From what I've seen they didn't invest a whole lot in the forums anyway. Everything was out of date. I do feel for you guys though. I've been lurking those forums for years and I know the blood, sweat and tears put into it. |

IMDb may not have been at fault when the site was hacked, but they *assumed* a great deal of fault when they tried to cover it up and left all of us in the dark. Either way, there's no possible way to paint IMDb in a good light here. Instead of doing the right thing, they dug an even deeper hole. |

Quick update: been on tech support chat for upwards of five hours now in the process of changing hosts. Long story short, its delayed me a bit in installing and working on the forum, but rest assured, I'm going as fast as possible.
My ***HOPE*** is to have it up sometime on Saturday evening, but it could possibly on Sunday. Once I get deeper into working on it tonight, I should have that narrowed down more.
While it will constantly be worked in some fashion, my goal is to at least launch it with enough features and settings so that everyone can register and post without many disruptions. I'd hate for it to look ugly and not completely ready when it goes live.
Also, I'll post an update on where we stand with donations tonight. We're INCREDIBLY close to the target goal, I'll say that right now (and thanks to those who have donated already, we exceeded the bare minimum goal!).
Also noteworthy is that the target goals increased a bit due to unforeseen costs related to host transfer, but nothing hugely significant.

Great...all my charts...GONE! My biggest weekends not to hit 100M chart, which had some intresting info as well as the biggest OW through the years...gone forever...

OK...I'll fess up. Now that BOM is gone I guess I can be honest I made up this ID(damnbug) on BOM because my wife was watching me to make sure I didn't post while I was writing my books.
Although, I have to say I did find it amazing how little respect I got posting as some unknown rather than in my fully established AA persona. But the wife don't know about this lil site so guess I'm free to be me.  |

He has been here when the forum went down for a short time and have seen the place, but he knows this is only 'a waiting room' for the home we are building. He said that building from the bottom was not his thing, but he was loved by everyone. I don't what makes him feel otherwise if he is feeling that way. |
