France was always the most important market for Tintin the comic book so it's obvious it's doing extremely well there. Germans never liked it that much which explains it's mediocre BO numbers.

Wow, french speaking countries seem to be mad about Tintin. Here in Switzerland it opened with 37'000 admissions in the small french speaking part of the country and with just 29'000 in the much bigger german speaking part.

Well that's not very good...But school started again this week so it should be able to hold well this weekend. Bearing in mind it was a 7 day opening though, it may drop near 50%, but, that'd probably only be a small drop from the 3 day weekend. $5m+ weekend? That would actually be excellent!

And the Italians hate it even more, it seems, from the opening number. BTW pinocchio, why isn't cine-directors giving weekly predictions anymore?

As always Vettel won -- who lives in Switzerland. But they had Shah Ruck Khan and Mr Bean there -- which is much more important for a movie forum...

You have to remember they're not true OW numbers. Tintin opened last Monday in the U.K so the number is a 7 day opening, same with France. Still good though, obviously.

Yeh I'm lowering expectations now, it looks unlikely to reach a 500m+ total.
Maybe 450m

It would be a bit disappointing if it can't pass The Smurfs' OS number.

Hey hey, why are we dropping to sub-$500m?
Smurfs opened with $4.2m in Russia. Tintin will likely open with $5m or so.
As long as it keeps on beating Smurfs in all markets, it will cross $500m, thanks to the additional lead it gets from markets like France,Spain etc.

Also,
"Superhero movie RA One, featuring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, debuted to $33.4 million overseas. The majority of that came in India, where it set the new opening weekend record with $28.3 million. It also set the Diwali record when it opened on the holiday, which fell on Wednesday, October 26 this year."

Some weekend trends from Germany:
PA3 should open with 300'000 admissions (twice the number PA2 made)
Real Steel with maybe 250'000 admissions
Tintin 225 k in its second weekend, rather disappointing.
